ARTISAN LED: Local Craft as Anantara Expands Into Portugal
Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has just thrown open its door to their first property in Europe, Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort - on southern Portugal’s picturesque Algarve coast. Surrounded by orange grove trees and undulating wetlands, the resort is just a 15-minute drive from Faro International Airport, close to the ocean, marinas and beaches of the Algarve with stunning views of the Arnold Palmer-designed Oceânico Golf Course.
The resort’s 280 newly guest rooms reflect the natural woods and fibres of the region creating a chic and comforting place to relax and unwind overlooking views of picturesque gardens, swimming pools and the prestigious fairways of the golf course. Anantara Vilamoura has teamed up with local artisans from the TASA Project - some unique pieces can be found in the 17 Anantara Suites, with guests able to appreciate the hand woven pool bags, locally sourced cork coasters and signature Algarvian ceramic fruit bowls. There’s also an in-room wine humidor (yes you read that correctly wine-lovers!), pillow menu and on-call butler service to attend to guests’ every need. Suite guests also have exclusive access to the indoor pool and sauna at the Anantara Spa, which looks out onto the rolling greens.
Anantara has partnered with World Wide Kids Company, who specialise in resort childcare to launch the new Adventurers Crèche and Adventurers Kids Club, which will open mid-May fully equipped with everything for youngsters to have fun enjoying arts, cooking classes, open air cinema, adventure safaris and more, in a purpose-built club. Teens will be obviously be too cool for that space, so they have a new hang at The Hub, as well as taking part in golf clinics and the dance academy. Preserving the heritage of the hotel’s previous incarnation as Tivoli Victoria, the all-day dining restaurant Victoria carries on the legacy with refined à la carte or lavish buffet style dining.
